Virgilio Barrera Guerra

Cement Operations and Technical Vice President Egypt and UAE

Virgilio Barrera Guerra joined Cemex in 2006 and has since built an extensive career in cement operations, maintenance, engineering, and plant leadership across Mexico and international assignments.

He has held several senior leadership roles, including Cement Operations Plant Director at Mérida Plant and Huichapan Plant, as well as Maintenance and Engineering Manager across multiple plants including Huichapan, Tamuín, Valles, and Torreón. In these roles, he led key operational excellence initiatives, kiln and mill upgrades, maintenance transformation programs, and efficiency improvements across cement production systems. He currently serves as Vice President, Operations & Technology Egypt & UAE.

He holds a Management Skills Development certification from EGADE Business School and completed the Stanford LEAD Online Business Program at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
