Cemex and the General Authority for Adult Education Launch Strategic Partnership to Advance Sustainable Development in Assiut
As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting local communities and empowering the workforce, Assiut Cement Company – a Cemex subsidiary – has signed a cooperation protocol with the General Authority for Adult Education in Assiut Governorate. The initiative aims to enhance workforce capabilities and achieve sustainable educational and professional development within the workplace.
The program will introduce basic education classes inside the Assiut Cement plant, specifically for workers employed by contractors partnering with Cemex. These classes will be equipped with the latest educational tools and technology to provide a comprehensive and engaging learning experience—helping workers strengthen their core skills and enabling both personal and professional growth.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Nady Ibrahim Abdel-Aal, General Manager of the General Authority for Adult Education in Assiut Governorate, said:
“Our vision places people at the heart of development, and education is the key to change. This initiative represents a model for effective collaboration between the public and private sectors, and we aspire to extend this model to other industrial sectors in the near future.”
From her side, Nourhan El-Ghandour, Cemex Egypt’s Human Resources Director, reaffirmed the company’s full commitment to the initiative:
“At Cemex, we believe sustainable development begins with people, and lifelong learning is the foundation for building a stronger and more inclusive future. This partnership with the General Authority for Adult Education reflects our commitment to empowering the workforce—not only by enhancing their professional skills but also by opening new educational horizons that secure a better future for them.”
Since the signing of the protocol, a comprehensive assessment of the targeted worker categories has been carried out, along with the implementation of regular monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure the educational objectives are met and the initiative’s actual impact is measured. The program is already underway inside the Assiut Cement plant.
This partnership reflects the state’s dedication to ensuring the right to education for all, positioning Assiut Governorate as a leading example of integrating education with production—where true development begins with people.
