CEMEX, Assiut Cement Company has the pleasure to announce that it received the Cairo & Alexandria Stock Exchange (CASE) “Best Social Responsible” Award in accordance to the CASE 30 Index during the Annual CASE Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony 2008 to recognize and celebrate the achievements of the companies traded on the Egyptian Stock Exchanges (CASE 30 Index) and the accomplishments of the men and women behind them. This is the first year CASE grants an award according to non-financial indicators.

The Chairman of CASE, Mr. Maged Shawky presented the Award to CEMEX’s Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Director during the CASE Award Ceremony, held on March 16, 2008 at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza, Cairo.

CEMEX’s achievements were recognized and celebrated during the ceremony, and according the Jury Committee included:

1. Overall global ideology of building the infrastructure of surrounding communities, improving the well-being of Plant and Factory neighbors and employees, and conserve natural resources.
2. Dedication to help protect the biodiversity in Egypt.
3. 500 students to access the sports facilities of Assiut Cement. Company Club (handball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, ping-pong, swimming pools and football) + accessories. (In collaboration with the National Council for Sports and the Assiut Governorate).
4. Reduction in dust emissions in accordance to international standards (which far exceed that of the domestic requirements).
5. Building schools to educate girls in remote, deprived and poor areas under the auspices of the First Lady Mrs. Mubarak in cooperation with the National Council for Childhood & Motherhood (NCCM).
6. The establishment of the School of Labors that helps in increasing and enhancing the skills of laborers.
7. The establishment of the Retailers School and the Summer School for Retailers' Kids.
8. The planting of an area of approximately 60,000 square meters inside the plant.
